Sexual Empowerment with August McLaughlin

The Beauty of a Woman BlogFest VII

Welcome to the Beauty of a Woman BlogFest VII!

Each year we gather here to celebrate real beauty and the beauty of sexuality, however we define them. Once again, this years’ contributors have blown me away with their insightful, funny, compelling and, at times, heart-wrenching posts.

I started the fest seven years ago, in response to the incredible support I received after writing about my experience with an eating disorder. Thanks to you all—everyone who participates as a reader and/or writer—it’s become something far better: a wave of positivity that impacts people around the world. If you’ve ever felt “less than” for looking or behaving a particular way, struggled to embrace your full self or wished to change society’s limiting definitions or beliefs around beauty or sexuality, this festival is for you.

Here’s how it works!

Click the links below to read participants’ contributions, which are divide into two categories: Original (real beauty in general) and Girl Boner (the beauty of sexuality). Read them all in order, jump around or choose only those that most strike you. When a post does resonate with you, consider leaving a comment and/or sharing the link with your friends and followers.

To get raffle points and potentially win a prize, do the following by 11pm PST March 9th:

  • After you’ve read at least a few posts, comment below: 2 points
  • Share this page on Twitter and/or Instagram, adding the hashtag #BOAW2018: 2 points each (max. 4 points)
  • Read and comment on all posts in the original and/or Girl Boner category: 5 points per category (max. 10 points)
    • *Let me know you did so in a comment below or by PM.
  • Read and comment on all posts in both categories: an additional 5 points
    • *Let me know you did so in a comment below or by PM.
  • Visit the prize page here and leave a comment: 2 points
  • If you contributed a blog post, you’ll receive 5 points for that awesomeness!

Prizes!

Huge thanks to our prize sponsors, who’ve graciously donated spectacular goodies! We’re giving away handmade bags, original artworks, a professional manuscript evaluation, beauty and styling services, health and pleasure subscriptions, luxurious novelty toys and a spicy book! I’ll announce winners on my blog next week. It was so good to wake up to all the lovely comments. Thank you, beautiful ladies!
I read 4 posts yesterday night and then slept. Those 4 posts were so inspiring.
Today’s goal – Read the rest of them!
Truly speaking, a writer’s best gift is when readers pour the love. I have gotten my reward.
P.S. I want this blogfest to happen quarterly!

I’m enjoying the BOAW fest so much. Still making my way through the posts. I’m not sure how to leave a comment on Amelia’s site. Ah, the challenges of technology!

I love hearing that, Lynn! And no sweat– I couldn’t figure that out either! LOL Tumblr sites aren’t often as comment-friendly, but thanks so much for trying.

Really enjoying reading a post or three every day. This is such a great group of women (and men) who are quietly (or not) changing the world and accepting themselves!

I’ve been such a good girl. LOL I shared this page on Twitter and Instagram adding the hashtag. I read all posts and commented on all of them (which permitted comments). I definitely shared each one on Twitter and Google+
I visited the prize page and left a comment, and you know my post.
This is a great blog fest, once again, August!

I completely forgot about commenting here. I approached reading the posts as I approach many things: a little bit at a time. I finished last night. What an inspiring collection of stories and ideas. A great celebration of beauty!

I did it! I read them all. in both categories. I shared on Twitter and Facebook, and contributed a post to each.

And I learned a great deal, healed, laughed, cried, and was sheltered in the sacred feminine.

Thank you, August! There may never be a year I need this more.
