My blog is stepping into the triple-digits in posts. Can you believe it? I’m excited, and so is sweet Roberta over there. She’s so pumped, she lit up!
To celebrate, YOU’RE INVITED to pimp your own work and promote another’s. HOOORAH!
Special thanks to Chuck Wendig, who I believe created the concept, and Jenny Hansen for introducing me to it. (You’re both kick-butt party-lovin’ awesome!)
And now…
Here are the rules:
1. PIMP: Share a link to a blog post, book or other venture you’re stoked about.
2. PROMOTE: Share a link to a pal’s post, book or other work you think ROCKS.
3. MINGLE: Have fun checking out others’ links, while the rest of the partygoers enjoy yours. Feel free to pop by later or over the next few days to catch links of the fashionably late.
I’ll start by pimping THIS POST, and promoting one of my newest favorite authors—M.G. Miller. His award-winning novel, Bayou Jesus, is one of the most beautiful, compelling books I’ve ever read. Ever. To quote my friend, Kourtney, it is “unputdownable,” and a sure-fire literary classic that reads with page-turner suspense. The writing is breathtaking, the story and characters inspiring. I simply can’t say enough about this book or M.G. Miller’s artistry.
M.G. is also an incredibly supportive writer, equally passionate for people and his craft—which says a lot. I could go on and on… Instead, I’ll refer you to his links.
Please visit M.G. Miller’s website, where you can read his terrific blog, follow him on Twitter and learn about his upcoming releases. (They’re darker than Bayou Jesus, says Miller, about which thriller-lovers like me are stoked.)
To purchase Bayou Jesus for Kindle for only 99-cents, visit Amazon.com. It’s FREE for Prime members. I suspect you’ll be mighty glad you did.
Thanks, all of you, for making blogging such a wonderful experience. I hope you keep having at least an ounce of the fun I have.
Stacy Green says
Ooh, since it’s Monday and I’m helping out fellow WANAer Kassandra Lamb, I’ll pimp my interview with her today. Her career as a psychotherapist helped her create her Kate Huntington character, and her books deal with some pretty deep issues. She’s also created misterio press with Shannon Esposito, and it’s a great resource for indies.
http://stacygreenauthor.com/2012/06/11/kassandra-lamb-psychotherapist-turned-mystery-author/
Promoting: my publisher, MuseItUp, is doing a June Mega Event with some really great books and prizes. We’ve got an Epic Award Winner with Cyrus Keith, and a bestseller with Heather Haven, plust many others in all sorts of genres. Stop by and discover someone new!

August McLaughlin says
Great interview, Stacy! And your publisher sounds like a winner—with fabulous taste.
EllieAnn says
Did someone say prizes? I just signed up for MuseItUp’s giveaways. Now I’m going to go check out the interview!

Catherine Johnson says
Congrats August and that book cover is gorgeous!

I’d like to promote my blogging friend Rivki Silver’s blog. And especially today’s post about how her daughter was born. I can’t believe Rivki is already blogging and tweeting again! So check out Life in the Married Lane. She amazes me, seriously.

Wow, Renee. What a lovely blog and post!
Renée A. Schuls-Jacobson says
Oh, *oops, my slip is showing* and congratulations on your 100th post! Here’s to 100 more!
August McLaughlin says
LOL No slip at all! Your popping by was plenty of kudos for me. You did miss pimping something of your own but I’m no sergeant when it comes to rules (shmules).
EllieAnn says
hey cool! How could I not get Miller’s book after a blurb like that?
I’d like to promote my Tall Tale Tuesdays. 12 commenters on Tuesday’s posts gets a tall tale written about them! It’s crazy, and always fun to see your name in print. So just leave a comment and you’ll get your own story!
http://ellieannsoderstrom.wordpress.com/2012/06/05/tall-tale-tuesday-champions/
One of the first and finest self-published books I’ve read is Confessions by Ryne Douglas Pearson. It’s a mystery with great characters and an awesome twist in the end. Also, @rynedp is so much fun to follow on twitter and one of the best guys.
Thanks so much for hosting the party! I’ve brought my Spicy Thai Kettle Chips and will hang out in the corner until some more people arrive! =)
August McLaughlin says
I can vouch for those Tuesday tales, Ellie Ann. So much fun!!
Off to check out Mr. Pearson, too. Here’s some *mango salsa* to add to those chips!
Lynn Kelley says
I LOVE Ellie’s Tall Tale Tuesday posts. Lots of laughs. Ellie has the best imagination and comes up with some fun and outrageous tales. And she stars her readers in them! Woot!
KM Huber says
Great book and blog suggestion, August. Thanks!
Jennifer Lewis Oliver says
M.G. Miller is one of my fav authors too. I absolutely loved Bayou Jesus. It was such an amazing story, I couldn’t put it down. When I finished, I looked at my husband said “Wow. This author is so talented. I hope one day I can write as well as he does.”
Congrats on your 100th post!! Time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it?

Congratulations on your 100th! Go MG!
I would like to promote two people if that is okay since some of the commenters above didn’t include a blogger…
http://drinkswellwithothers.wordpress.com/ Because his posts can be hilarious, he never disappoints, and he is such a supportive writer. He is starting a new flash fiction series!
Lame Adventures for her NYC snark She can make buying a muffin or dental floss a laugh riot!

Hi Amber – I posted a question on your blog post. I like the idea of having your readers post questions. Would you mind if I used it in the future – a few months away?

Amber West says
Of course not!

(I think my ancient browser rejected my last comment, so I will try again. Hopefully this isn’t a double post)
I recently read a self-published novel that I’m more than happy to promote. It’s Every Bush is Burning, by Brandon Clements, found here: http://www.brandonclements.com/every-bush-is-burning/. I was taken in by his recent blog post about his sister. After that, his book was an easy sell, and I wasn’t disappointed.
As for pimping myself, I’m starting a new series wherein I will publish poetry from my college years. It’s scary because the poems are emotional revealing–revealing my immaturity as well–but I’ve decided to be brave and take the plunge. I just started the series today with this blog post: http://jessicathomasink.com/blog/poetry/a-poet-finds-a-purpose/
Congrats on your blogging successes!
August McLaughlin says
Blog posts and interaction led me to M.G. Miller’s book, too. Great way to find the keepers!
Your poetry series sounds fantastic. Those palm-sweat-inducing posts are some of the best. Can’t wait to check it out.
mgmillerbooks says
Wow. I don’t know what to say except thank you so much, August. You’re about to make a grown man cry.
August McLaughlin says
Good! You deserve it.

August McLaughlin says
Your blog is a riot! Thanks for popping by.
mliddle says
Happy Monday to you August!
I hope you had a good weekend. Thanks for letting us pimp, promote & mingle. A great follow-up to the #WANAparty on Friday!
I am part of a writing group. We all went through a writer’s platform challenge together in April on Robert Lee Brewer’s blog “My Name Is Not Bob” aka MNINB (http://robertleebrewer.blogspot.com/). The group from MNINB ihas started a website in which all of us will be making contributions to it (http://notbobbers.wordpress.com/). From this main web page, you can get to the blogs of the people who participated in the challenge. It’s amazing to work with so many talented writers and bloggers. The main website is still in the works, but we are posting along the way. It’s like we are inside a fishbowl where others can see the progression of a website!
Robert’s combined the 30 days of the Platform into one post. I leaned a lot about creating a platform and interactiing with an audience – whether for a blog, book or something else. I still am active on my picks of social media (G+, Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, LinkedIn). Here is Robert’s post: http://robertleebrewer.blogspot.com/2012/05/how-to-build-or-improve-your-writer.html
I am ready to mingle!!

August McLaughlin says
Thanks for joining us, Monique! Hope you enjoy the links.
The Writer’s Platform Party sounds awesome. And I see there’s a Twitter chat upcoming. (Think we can handle another? LOL)
mliddle says
I wondered how chats affect followers of those people in the chat. It must seem quite odd seeing bits of a one-way conversation!
August McLaughlin says
I’ve wondered the same thing. My Twitter stream post-party was, shall we say, interesting!
Samuel Solomon says

Congrats on your 100th. I’m about 15 away from there, myself.
Promote: I just discovered a great blog by Michael Hyatt, the Chairman of Thomas Nelson Publishers. There is some fantastic social media, writing, and leadership wisdom there: http://michaelhyatt.com/category/social-media.
Pimping: In terms of my own, here’s one of my favorite posts sharing some of my favorite blog quotes from ten women. And August, was one of my featured writers!
http://www.mjmonaghan.com/2012/01/20/blog-quotes-top-10/
mj monaghan says
Just wanted to say that I am in no way affiliated or selling anything for Mr. Hyatt (in regard to my previous comment).
August McLaughlin says
Ha ha——so noted! Loved your ‘blog quotes from women’ post, regardless of my inclusion. (Though I’m honored by that!)
Natalie Hartford says
The book sounds amazing. I’ll definitely be checking it out soon! Woot woot!

Congratulations on your 100th Post!
I would have promoted August’s blog if this would have some other post , well if not August, let me promote a huge August Fan and a co-blogger Kourtney.
http://kourtneyheintz.wordpress.com/
Semifinalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel award, Kourtney blogs on variety of topics book reviews, interviews, life moments and lot more interesting topics.
Another of my favorite co-blogger is Susie wild-rider. Twice freshly pressed she doesn’t need this promotion, I like her half full coffee mug
http://susielindau.com/
And here’s my address to scribbles on sanity to stupidity

August McLaughlin says
Ha, thanks Yatin! Great promotion choices and pimpage—Susie and Kourtney rock! And your “scribbles” never cease to entertain.

Happy 100th post!! I’m here to promote you, my wonderful blogging friend!
Whether it’s health, women’s issues, Pinterest or just deep thoughts, you continue to make Savor the Storm and all around masterpiece. I hope you continue to love it for many hundred MORE posts.
I always push people to do a little pimpage so I will as well – I’m pimping out my courses at WANA International. The first one starts this week, with either the 1 hour webinar on Triberr, with a manual OR the one week extravaganza where I hold your hand through all the ins and outs of navigating the program and managing tribes. Triberr is the way to save time and boost your blog to a whole new level.
All my courses can be found at http://www.wanaintl.com/instructor-jenny-hansen/.
Congratulations AGAIN!
August McLaughlin says
Thanks so much, Jenny! Means a lot coming from you.
Your courses sound FANTASTIC. I hope everyone signs up. (*HINT HINT* ;)) You introduced me to Triberr and I’m so grateful.

August McLaughlin says
So sweet of you, Lynn!
Stuartart says
I’m gonna take a look at that – well pimped!
Tameri Etherton says
Congratulations on the 100th post!!
I read two blogs today that have stayed with me all day. They are completely different, and yet kind of the same because they both deal with being in the moment and true to yourself.
First is Coleen Patrick’s blog about multitasking. Maybe we need to slow down a little bit so we don’t accidentally buy dog biscuits for our nephews. Oh, yes she did!
http://coleenpatrick.com/2012/06/11/multitasking-make-twice-the-mistakes-in-half-the-time/
And then we have the fabulous Natalie Hartford who refuses to apologize for being herself. We love Natalie in all her sparkly, potty mouth, glamour!
http://nataliehartford.com/2012/06/11/5-things-ill-never-apologize-for/
Thanks for sharing your celebration with everyone! You make the blogosphere a happy place to be.
August McLaughlin says
Great picks, Tameri! Coleen’s story cracked me up! And her post inspired me. Same for the FAH-bulous Natalie.
Lynn Kelley says
Big time Congrats on your 100th post, August! Woo hoo! Here’s my silly Happy Dance for you (only 23 seconds):
http://youtu.be/ZH4w4JUSNXs
Here’s the link I’d like to promote:
http://www.jenpowell.com/blog/how-to-load-up-at-the-buffet/
It’s from our fellow WANA blogger Jennette Marie Powell, author of Time’s Enemy and Time’s Fugitive, both based on the same characters. Her post about the Book Lover’s Buffet, which is offering 150 ebooks on sale for 99 cents each, including her Time’s Enemy mentioned above. This is a deal because I paid $4.99 for it, and it’s worth that much, believe me.
The sale goes on through June 22nd with various genres offered. But if you like romance, sci-fi, and historical, you’ll love both of these books. I love time travel stories, and hers are unique. I’m going to check out the other books, too!
I’ll be back to check out the other links. Need to visit my commenters’ blogs first!
Great way to celebrate this milestone, August! Woo hoo!
August McLaughlin says
The most delightful 23 seconds of my day so far. Thanks, Lynn! You’ve got MOVES! Off to check out Jennette’s work… Sounds intriguing. I haven’t experienced time traveling entertainment since Back to the Future. Or wait, Encino Man.

I’m going to plug a fabulous independent publisher, Sand Hill Review Press (http://www.sandhillreviewpress.com) started by the indefatigable Tory Hartmann and Marty Sorensen. And also one of their newest titles, “A Time to Cast Away Stones” by Elise Frances Miller. The book is set in Berkeley and Paris in 1968 and Miller’s blog focuses on comparing the Paris May Revolution of 1968 with the Occupy Movement today: http://elisefrancesmiller.wordpress.com. Enjoy!
August McLaughlin says
Both great choices! Thanks for the recommendations, Audrey.
Kristine Cayne says
This is such a great idea, August! Today, I’m on the Night Owl Reviews Romance Blog talking about the all-important question: “How Much Sex is Enough? How Much is Too Much?”
Yes, I’m talking about romance in books. LOL I’m also giving away an ecopy of Deadly Obsession and Deadly Addiction, the first and second books in my Deadly Vices romantic suspense series. If you’ve never read my books, this could be a great way to see if they are for you. I hope to see you there!

Hi August. I’d like to mention a couple of bloggers who I always look forward to . . .
There’s Susie Lindau, whose posts run the gamut. From wicked dance moves to amazing nature photos to flash fiction fixes that inspire others (me) to try their hand. http://susielindau.com/
There’s Simone Benedict, who has basically turned her blog in to a flash fiction destination, a fact to which her readers are quite thankful. Her support is clockwork and her comments educate.
http://simonebenedict.wordpress.com/
I recently introduced a new character- Phineas Clemente- to my blog. Phin is his own worse case scenario. I’m thinking he should’ve just stayed home and pounded a pack of smokes with Roberta . . . .
Thank you August.
August McLaughlin says
Great choices, Cayman! (Great name, by the way. :)) I’m a fan of Susie and am eager to peruse Simone’s work and yours. So glad you joined us here.
