Have you ever received a gift that made you go yes, yes yes, or...uh, what? I imagine we all have.
Choosing the right gift for someone isn’t always easy, so I asked my dear friend, Heidi Mastrogiovanni, to join me in the Girl Boner studio to explore some of our favorite sexy, romantic and empowering gifts, as well as suggestions for making smart choices.
Stream the Girl Boner Radio episode on Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, Spotify or below! It also features wonderful thoughts from Dr. Megan Fleming for a listener who’s recovering from a car accident and feels ready to dip back in to sexy play. Read on for some of the gift ideas Heidi and I discussed and more!
For much more of Heidi’s magic, check out her Lala Pettibone comedic novel series and her comedy podcast, Movies Not Movies, which she cohosts with James Napoli. Both are chock-full of her sharp wit and kind heart, making them perfect picks for the holidays and any time you could use more joy and cheer.
1 Female Orgasm Course by Beducated
If you have a vulva and want to learn more about your sexy parts and experience more pleasure, this course is for you! I gave it a try recently and love how encouraging and comprehensive it is. The series of short videos covers five pleasure zones (the clitoris, G-spot, cervix, nipples and anus) and features practical tips, from ways to invite multiple orgasms to relaxing way way into solo play.
The demonstrations, performed by real people on their bodies so you can actually see the techniques in-action, are so helpful. I also love the guided audio tracks you can listen to while you practice what you’ve learned, solo or with a partner. (Talk about fun homework. ;)) Perhaps most of all, I appreciate that they use terms like “vulva owner” throughout, making it more inclusive of trans and non-binary people.
Beducated is offering Girl Boner listeners $20 off the Female Orgasm course! You’ll pay just $29, versus the full price of $49. To save, enter the promo code GIRLBONER at checkout. Click here to learn more and get started.
2 A Romantic Getaway or Stay-cation
One of Heidi’s favorite sexy, romantic gifts involved a surprise trip to Santa Barbara. Her husband, Tom, surprised her with the getaway to celebrate the anniversary of the day they met.
“It was just so lovely and sexy and romantic,” Heidi told me. “We walked along the beach. We went out to dinner, and the place was as charming as anything I’ve ever seen… It’s very sexy to relax.” (Amen to that!)
If you’re on a tight budget, plan a sensual stay-cation, changing things up at home for a weekend or afternoon. Plan a candlelit dinner and at-home massages, for example. Or take Heidi’s suggestion of reading erotica to each other.
3 Disabled People Are Hot Gear
Disability Awareness Consultant and host of the Disabled After Dark podcast, Andrew Gurza, created the #DisabledPeopleAreHot campaign to help folks feel proud of themselves while embracing their sexiness. I love all of Andrew’s work, these awesome tanks and tees included. You can also donate to the campaign to help ensure that a disabled person who’d like a shirt gets one free of charge. 4 InTouch Passion Trio by Cal Exotics
This body-safe vibrating gem is literally three toys in one. (All the more reason for YES, YES, YES exclamations—am I right?) Cal Exotics sent me an InTouch Passion Trio to try and it’s one of my latest faves. The set comes with a base and three attachments, including a Kisser, Pleaser, Seducer and Stimulator. One even provides a sucking sensation for external clit bliss. Another functions more like a wand, which can add sultry buzz to most any erogenous body part. Each attachment has 10 vibration intensity and rhythm settings to explore and a velvety-smooth exterior. And all of the components are water-proof, so you can take them into the tub for sultry de-stressing.
5 Curvy Girl Sex: 101 Body-Positive Positions to Empower Your Sex Life
Curvy Girl Sex: 101 Body-Positive Positions to Empower Your Sex Life, by sex educator Elle Chase, is a must-have if you or a partner is large-bodied. Proving that you don’t have to be a size 6 (or 8 or 10…) to enjoy incredible sex, Elle guides you through basic to advanced positions, offering plentiful tips and techniques to help you make the most of them. No matter your shape or size, this book can help you feel more empowered and pleasure-worthy, precisely as you are.
6 A Sexy Gift Basket
Gift baskets provide such a fun way to show you care, and they don’t have to break the bank. Start with a container, such as a reusable shopping bag, large cosmetic bag or bucket, then fill it with a variety of goodies you think the recipient will love—such as a travel vibe or cock ring, a great lube, such as Sliquid or Uber Lube, a bath bomb, chocolates and a massage candle. Mix-and-match a variety of items or go with a theme, such as R&R or Toy Land. For even more DIY-ness (totally a word), add a custom poem or love note or a jar of compliments for the recipient to read throughout the year.
7 Donations to Tending the Garden
I’ll be discussing this incredible retreat with its founder, Jimanekia Eborn, in an upcoming episode. Jimanekia, who’s been a sex educator and sexual assault and trauma expert for over a decade, created it to provide a healing space for femmes of color who are survivors of sexual assault.
“As an expert in my field and as a survivor myself, I know firsthand the importance of finding healing and community when it comes time to process your trauma,” she wrote. “When we can come together as survivors to reflect, reenergize, and regenerate ourselves, the healing magnifies. This is more than mantra; it is my mission.”
For every Black woman who reports being raped, at least 15 Black women never report, she said, adding, “Communities of color need this healing… With a donation of ANY amount, you can be a part of creating this sacred space.”

9 An Empowering Photoshoot
Yes, I really did salivate a little while talking about this gift idea in the episode. SIGH… If the thought of a sensual photoshoot turns you on, too, consider taking the leap. When you work with a skilled and trusted photographer who sees your inherent sexiness (as all true artists will, IMO), the results can be spectacular. And by results, I don’t just mean the photos, but the overall experience.
I highly recommend photographers Josefina Hunter and Nick Holmes, both of whom I’ve shot with recently. I promise you don’t have to have on-camera experience with these two. As I mentioned in the episode, they’re not only gifted at photography, but at helping folks feel at ease. If you book a session with Nick, mention Girl Boner for a generous discount!
9 Girl Boner Books
I should mention my Girl Boner books, too! Both Girl Boner and Girl Boner Journal can make empowering gifts. For a deep dive into sexual empowerment, on everything from super common myths debunked to proven tips for maximum pleasure, go for the main book. For a quicker read with more writing prompts, try the journal. They work well in tandem or separately and if you purchase either one, I’d love to hear what you think. Girl Boner is available on Audible, too, with yours truly narrating.
Wishing you and yours all the pleasure and light you deserve, this holiday season and always!
Psst! Don’t forget to reserve a spot at Dr. Megan’s upcoming FREE 9-day pleasure challenge. Just choose “other” from the drop down menu and submit the word PLEASURE here.
