“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes…the place where love resides.” — Sam Levenson
Welcome to the Beauty of a Woman BlogFest VI! To say I’m thrilled to have you here as a reader, writer or both is a gigantic understatement. As many of you know, I started this fest as a thanks to the support I received after writing about surviving an eating disorder. Since then, the fest has taken on a life of its own, drawing together folks from around the globe in the name of real beauty and the beauty of sexuality. I couldn’t be more grateful for the magic the festers bring.
Today is about you all, so let’s get right to it!
Here’s how it works:
Below you’ll find links to posts by writers from around the world and across the gender spectrum, celebrating real beauty (original category) or the beauty of sexuality (Girl Boner category).
To potentially win a fabulous femme-power prize, do the following by 11pm PST March 11th, 2017:
- Read and comment on all posts in the Original Category (and let me know you did in a comment below): 5 points
- Read and comment on all posts in the Girl Boner category (and let me know you did in a comment below): 5 points
- Comment below: 1 point
- Tweet the fest with the hashtag #BOAW2017: 1 point
- Contributing bloggers each receive an extra 5 points!
I’ll track folks’ points and do a good old fashioned drawing next week, then announce the prize winners here in a followup blog post.
Bloggers: If you registered and don’t see your name below, it means I wasn’t able to locate/didn’t receive your link. Please send me your link as soon as possible. :)

HI there, August!
I actually have both an original post, which is listed here, and a Girl Boner post, which I don’t see. Did I do something wrong on that one?
Here’s the link to that post:
https://shanjeniah.blog/2017/03/06/nevertheless-we-persist-boaw2017-the-girlboner-edition/
If there’s something I can correct, I’d be happy to do that!
August McLaughlin says
Ah, got it and added! Thanks so much, Shan.
Laura Probert says
Read and commented on all Original Category posts.
Had trouble with Captcha code on one though – emailed author.
August McLaughlin says
Woo hoo!! You are amazing.
Laura Probert says
This is such an amazing event August. Thank you so much for having me as a participant! LOVE!!!
August McLaughlin says

Lynn Kelley says
Congratulations on organizing another Beauty of a Woman Fest, August! I’m looking forward to reading the posts.
August McLaughlin says
Thanks, Lynn! Hope you enjoy the posts as much as I have.
Aurora Jean Alexander says
Hello, August,
Okay, here we go. I have read each post in the Original AND the Girl Boner version. I spread word about them on Social Media. I commented on each of the post, even though some of my comments still need approval.
And I twittered about the BOAWBlogfest with the hashtag.
I had tons of fun with humorous, educational, informative, strong, powerful and wise posts of all bloggers. It was a wonderful day for me to read myself through all of them!! I’m truly impressed.
You have contributed such an amazing Fest during the years! I’m honored to be a part of it.
August McLaughlin says
You are amazing, AJ! Thanks so much for bringing your magic and supporting everyone with gusto.
rasjacobson says
I’ve made comments on all original pieces.
I’ve tweeted.
And I just entered my piece. It will go live tomorrow. I think it’s best in the ORIGINAL category.
It feels really good to have created something for BOAW.
And it feels even better to be able to leave a comment here. It’s been a long time.
August McLaughlin says
Spectacular on all counts! Can’t wait to read and share your post. It feels great to have you here.
rasjacobson says
Thank you for including my late entry. Better late than never, right?
August McLaughlin says
Indeed!
Shan Jeniah Burton says
Hi, August!
I’ve read and commented on them all – my mind and soul are so very FULL in the best of ways, and I feel things shifting.
I Tweeted the hop and many of the posts, too.
As for when I feel most beautiful – that’s easy. When I’m happy and engaged in something fulfilling. Since I made a goal a few years back to strive to do only that which brings me joy or supports something that does, I’m happy and engaged in fulfilling activities most of the time, so I feel pretty darned beautiful pretty darned often, these days!
I also feel sexy when my brain is going full steam, like it is now that I’ve read everything!
Thank you so much for hosting this. I missed last year, and was up to the last minute working out this years’ posts – but I’m so glad that I did!
What a revelation!
Laura Probert says
Just finished commenting on all the Girl Boner blogs and damn – LOVED THEM! Thank you so much for this BLOG FEST!!!! Can we do this more than once a year?
August McLaughlin says
Ha! As soon as I have a staff, for sure!! So glad you’re had a blast. We’re brighter because of you.
Diana Beebe says
What a fabulous list of posts! I just finished reading (and commenting on) the Original posts. So inspiring. I’ll go explore the Girl Boner posts soon.
Thanks for doing this, August. I’m very glad to be a part of it again this year.
August McLaughlin says
Ah, wonderful, Diana. So glad you’re enjoying! Really grateful you’re with us.
Kitt Crescendo says
Thanks for leading this again, friend! Going out to read everyone’s shares now!
Kitt Crescendo says
Finally able to hit all the pages & comment. I think only one on the traditional page hasn’t posted my comments.
August McLaughlin says
Beautiful, Kitt, and nicely done!! Thanks for the awesome support of festers!
Kimberly Bost says

Jessica Lohmann says
Hi August, this is amazing! I’ve now read all the posts, both original and Girl Boner ones. First the Girl Boners! I haven’t commented on all posts though. If I go back and do that, I’ll let you know, because your mom really does fantastic work!
I also bookmarked the one about what to tell my daughter about sex before she has it for future reference and the one Oz wrote will always stick in my mind as well – nice to have a man write here too. LOVE that!
These posts are all very interesting, entertaining and well thought out.
Thanks for the opportunity. Maybe I can contribute next year!
August McLaughlin says
Thanks so much for stopping by and exploring the posts, Jessica! Support of the festers is one of my biggest goals for the fest – thanks so much for helping to make that happen. I really dug those posts, too. We’d love to have you next year!
Jenny Hansen says
What fun this week has been! I’ve made it all the way through the original category and tweeted about a ton of them. I’m still making my way through the GB entries, and I’m simply blown away by all the talent and thought-provoking posts. Thank you so much for putting this together, August. It’s always fun.
August McLaughlin says
Beautiful, Jenny. Thanks so much for participating and supporting fellow festers. I’m so jazzed you’ve enjoyed!
